The SGS 53111 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking, machining, and fabrication applications. It features an 11/64 inch (0.1719 inch) diameter with a 150-degree split point angle and a bright, uncoated finish. The micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance suited for production environments. With a right-hand cut, three-flute regular spiral design, and web-thinned tapered web configuration, the 53111 is optimized for chip evacuation and reduced entry force. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC operators rely on this type of drill for consistent hole quality in tight-tolerance work.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials. Its 2-3/4 inch overall length and 1-5/8 inch flute length make it appropriate for standard depth-of-cut operations on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard Jacobs-style chuck systems. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth drilling without excessive deflection.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 11/64 inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with proper chuck clamping and spindle speed selection. Ensure the drill press or machining center spindle is fully stopped before inserting or removing the bit. Select cutting speed and feed rate appropriate for the workpiece material to avoid premature carbide chipping. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loading or impact beyond normal cutting forces.
