The SGS 53108 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin carbide with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 150-degree point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The three-flute spiral design supports efficient material removal in a single-pass jobber-length format. With a 1/8 inch diameter and an overall length of 2.25 inches, this bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die techs, and trade professionals who require consistent dimensional accuracy in tight-tolerance work.
The SGS 53108 is well suited for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and general steel stock. Its 1.25-inch flute length and 1.0-inch maximum drilling depth make it a practical choice for shallow to medium-depth holes in production machining, maintenance operations, and fabrication environments. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure clamping in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability is not included, so conventional flood or mist cooling setups should be used when drilling hardened or abrasive materials.
Designed for use with cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and general steel workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank. SGS Series 103, covering the 0.100 to 0.150 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool operator. Secure the shank fully in a rigid collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Power down the machine spindle completely before changing or inspecting the bit. Because coolant-through is not available on this bit, apply external flood or mist coolant when drilling hardened steel or cast iron to manage heat and extend tool life.
