The SGS 53030 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 30, with a decimal diameter of 0.1285 inches. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 150-degree drill point angle and a three-flute regular spiral design that promotes efficient chip evacuation at elevated cutting speeds. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces entry thrust, making it well suited for consistent, accurate hole production in demanding materials. It carries a straight cylindrical shank and conforms to DIN 6539 standards. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators are the typical end users.
The SGS 53030 is intended for drilling cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose steel in production and job-shop environments. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a flute length of 1.25 inches, it fits standard drill chucks and collet holders used on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports hole depths up to 1.0 inch without step drilling in most applications. It is sold individually and is a Series 103 general-purpose grade bit.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.1285-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, hardened steel, non-ferrous metal, and steel. Coolant-through operation is not supported by this bit.
This bit is installed by machinists or CNC operators into a compatible drill chuck or collet holder; ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened to the manufacturer-specified torque range for the holding device used. Power down the spindle and confirm zero RPM before changing tooling. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.0 inch without retracting and clearing chips. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage if run with damaged geometry.
