The SGS 51352 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including alloy steels and titanium. Built to Series 135 standards, it features a 145-degree notched point angle and an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating that provides heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The straight shank measures 0.3750 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 3.5 inches, making this a compact, stub-length bit suited for close-clearance and high-volume drilling operations. It is typically used by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians working with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes.
This drill bit is intended for use in metal-cutting applications where a screw machine length (stub) configuration is preferred for rigidity and reduced deflection. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steels and titanium alloys. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned, tapered web configuration support efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust force at the cutting edge. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry are compatible with standard spindle rotation on most machining equipment.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.3750-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools. Primary workpiece materials are alloy steels and titanium as specified by the manufacturer.
This bit should be installed and operated by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or impact from dropping. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before cutting.
