Built to Series 135 standards, it carries an 11/64 inch (0.1719 inch) diameter with a 145-degree notched point angle that promotes fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The Ti-NAMITE-A AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting through tough workpiece materials. With a straight shank at 0.2500 inch diameter and a compact 2-5/8 inch overall length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and screw machine setups without modification. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
The SGS 51336 is suited for production drilling in alloy steels and titanium alloys where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical. The screw machine length body keeps the bit rigid in short-reach applications, reducing deflection during high-feed operations. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration lowers thrust force requirements, making it practical for both CNC machining centers and manual drill press setups. Its 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support consistent chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling scenarios.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, screw machines, and drill presses accepting a 0.2500 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are alloy steels and titanium. Diameter tolerance of +0.0002 to +0.0006 inch is appropriate for precision fit drilling in production environments.
This bit should be installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank fully in a compatible collet or drill chuck before operating to prevent runout. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against the material being drilled before engaging the cut.
