Built from solid carbide, the bit features an AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating that resists heat and extends tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. The 145-degree notched point angle with web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduces entry force and improves centering without a pilot hole. At 2.625 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute length, this stub-length format delivers rigidity and reduced runout in short-reach drilling applications. The straight shank measures 0.2500 inches in diameter for standard chuck compatibility. This bit suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production drilling setups operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The SGS 51335 is built for production environments where hole quality and tool life in hard or exotic materials are priorities. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in alloy steels and titanium. The screw machine length format is a common choice for vertical machining centers and turret lathes where a short, stiff drill reduces deflection and improves hole straightness. Two margins and a notched point contribute to consistent hole diameter within the specified tolerance of plus 0.0001 to plus 0.0005 inches. Coolant-through is not supported on this model.

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck to the chuck manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure before operation. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; external or flood coolant should be used when drilling titanium or high-alloy steels to manage heat. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material machinability data before use, as carbide tooling is sensitive to interrupted cuts and excessive radial load.
