The SGS 51334 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including alloy steels and titanium. Built from solid carbide and coated with SGS Ti-NAMITE-A AlTiN finish, this bit delivers heat resistance and extended tool life in production drilling environments. It features a 145-degree notched point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and improved chip flow. The straight shank measures 0.2500 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 2-5/8 inches. This bit is sold individually and suited for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with CNC equipment or manual drilling setups.
The SGS 51334 is used in screw machine and short-hole drilling applications where a compact, rigid drill is required. The 5/32-inch (0.1562-inch) diameter and 7/8-inch flute length make it well suited for precision work in tight tolerances on alloy steel and titanium workpieces. The 2-flute regular spiral geometry supports efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration are consistent with production drilling cycles where consistent hole quality is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for CNC machining centers, screw machines, and drill presses accepting straight-shank drill bits with a 0.2500-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are alloy steel and titanium per SGS Series 135 design intent.
Installation and operation of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with feeds, speeds, and runout tolerances for solid carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank fully in a collet or drill chuck to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before operation. Solid carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate parameters, or dropping. Always verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before use to prevent premature chipping or breakage.
