The SGS 51226 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit sized at letter Z, equal to 0.4130 inches (10.49 mm) in diameter. It features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for easier entry and reduced thrust. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this bit delivers the rigidity and wear resistance needed for precision drilling in metals, composites, and other demanding materials. It carries a right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute pattern and a straight cylindrical shank. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary users.
The SGS 51226 is suited for production and maintenance drilling operations where tight diameter tolerances are required. With an overall length of 4.5 inches and a flute length of 2.875 inches, it fits standard drill chucks without modification. The Series 101 designation and DIN 338 standard compliance make it a recognized drop-in for shops requiring certified tooling. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools where carbide tooling is specified. Coolant-through capability is not included in this design.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit conforming to DIN 338 standards, suitable for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.4130-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet rated for the tool diameter before use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, de-energized state before changing tooling. Follow applicable shop safety standards and manufacturer feeds-and-speeds guidelines for carbide tooling in the workpiece material being drilled.
