The SGS 51119 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. It features a 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch) diameter, a 118-degree facet point, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding production and maintenance drilling applications. Web thinning reduces thrust requirements at entry, making it well-suited for hand-fed and CNC drilling operations alike. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this drill.
This drill bit is built to DIN 338 standards and fits general-purpose drilling applications in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without an adapter. With a 2-3/8 inch flute length and 3-3/4 inch overall length, it is sized for typical jobber-length reach in benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys.
Compatible with standard drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks up to 0.2969 inch diameter. Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drills when machining steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. Conforms to DIN 338 Series 101 specifications.
Secure the straight shank fully in the drill chuck and verify concentricity before use. Always bring spindle speed and feed rate in line with carbide tooling recommendations for the target workpiece material — carbide requires higher speeds than high-speed steel but lower feed forces. Carbide is brittle; avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces. Wear appropriate eye protection whenever operating drilling equipment.
