The SGS 51024 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this bit delivers higher hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives, making it well suited for production environments where tool life and hole accuracy matter. The 118-degree faceted point provides a self-centering entry and clean hole geometry. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1.375-inch flute, this is a standard jobber proportion that fits most drill chucks without adapter modifications. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for use with a variety of cutting fluids and dry cutting conditions.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, drill presses, and hand-held pneumatic or electric drills where a wire gauge size 24 diameter hole is required. Typical applications include through-hole drilling, pilot hole creation, and precision hole sizing in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without any special toolholding required, and the right-hand spiral flute clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in any drill chuck or collet system accepting a 0.1520-inch straight cylindrical shank. Fits within the SGS Series 101 product family and conforms to DIN 338 jobber-length geometry standards.
Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC or manual machine tools. Secure the straight shank fully in the drill chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning production drilling. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 1.1093 inches without retracting to clear chips, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to maximize tool life.
