The SGS 51014 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precise, repeatable hole-making in demanding production and maintenance applications. Ground to a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning, it cuts cleanly on entry and resists walking without a center punch on most materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and wear resistance well beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 1.625-inch spiral flute, this is a compact, rigid drill suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held electric drilling equipment where dimensional accuracy matters.
The 51014 fits applications requiring a wire gauge No. 14 hole, equivalent to 0.182 inch or 4.62 mm. It is used in metalworking, fabrication shops, toolrooms, and MRO environments where carbide tooling is specified for hardened steels, cast iron, aluminum alloys, plastics, and composites. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders without adapters. It is sold individually and is appropriate for professional machinists, industrial maintenance technicians, and precision trade work.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit conforming to DIN 338 geometry, compatible with any drilling equipment accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.182 inch diameter, including drill chucks, ER collet systems, and keyless chuck assemblies on CNC and manual machines.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from any toolholder. Secure the shank to the full depth of the chuck jaws or collet bore to prevent pullout under load. Do not exceed the drill press or machining center speed and feed recommendations for the workpiece material and drill diameter - running carbide tooling dry or at incorrect speeds in hard materials can cause sudden bit fracture.
