The SGS 51010 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in No. 10 wire size (0.1935 inches / 4.91 mm diameter), designed for precision drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The 118-degree facet point with web thinning reduces entry force and improves centering without a separate spotting operation. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 1.625-inch flute length, this is a standard jobber geometry suited to drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where straight-shank tooling is required. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for production-rate drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
The SGS 51010 fits general-purpose machining applications in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments. It is appropriate for drilling steel plate, cast iron components, aluminum extrusions, and similar non-ferrous stock. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry provide reliable chip evacuation at standard cutting speeds. This bit does not support through-coolant delivery, so it is best applied in flooded coolant, mist, or dry-cutting setups depending on workpiece material. Series 101 designation identifies it as part of the SGS standard jobber drill line conforming to DIN 338.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill conforming to DIN 338, compatible with any drill press, machining center, or power tool accepting a straight cylindrical shank at 0.1935 inches diameter.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits to prevent premature edge chipping. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loading or using this bit as a reamer. Follow applicable machine guarding and PPE requirements per shop safety standards.
