The SGS 49455 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 3XLM specifications, it features a 0.2362 inch (6 mm) mill diameter with an extra-long 0.9843 inch (25 mm) length of cut, making it suited for deep-cavity and long-reach milling operations. The two-flute, right-hand spiral configuration runs at a 30-degree helix angle, and the AlTiN coating provides heat and wear resistance for extended tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. This end mill is centercutting, supports both plunge and peripheral cutting, and is manufactured from micrograin carbide for dimensional stability and edge retention.
This end mill is used in machining centers, CNC mills, and manual mills where deep reach or thin-wall profiling is required. The extra-long length of cut makes it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and finishing passes in materials where a standard-length tool cannot reach. The AlTiN coating and micrograin carbide substrate support cutting in harder and more abrasive workpiece materials without rapid edge degradation. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments.
The SGS 49455 is compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metals including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. It fits any standard collet or end mill holder accepting a 0.2362 inch (6 mm) straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. The shank should be seated fully in a collet or end mill holder and torqued to the tool holder specification before operation. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before initiating a cut. Follow all machine guarding and PPE requirements applicable to your shop environment.
