The SGS 49416 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built to Series 1XLM extra-long standards, it features a 0.2362 inch mill diameter, a 0.9843 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with four spiral flutes. The micrograin carbide construction and AlTiN coating combine to deliver thermal resistance and edge durability in demanding cutting applications. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard. This tool is centercutting, making it suitable for plunge entry as well as side milling passes.
This end mill is intended for use in machining environments where extended reach or deeper cavity work is required. The extra-long length type accommodates setups where standard-length tools cannot reach the workpiece feature. It is suited for milling steel, cast iron, stainless steel, nonferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and other materials corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. A straight-cylindrical shank interfaces with standard collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.2362 inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet or end mill holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the specified gauge depth. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping; excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality. Follow the tool manufacturer cutting data recommendations for feed rate, speed, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material being machined.
