The SGS 49181 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 2.5 mm cutting diameter, a 5 mm length of cut, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide substrate is finished with an AlTiN coating, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. At 38 mm overall length with a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this stub-length end mill offers high rigidity and reduced deflection. It is centercutting and suitable for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations. Installation and use are handled by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is classified as stub length in the SGS Series 16M lineup. It is intended for milling operations on a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The stub length profile makes it particularly well suited for setups where tool overhang must be minimized to maintain dimensional accuracy.

Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during storage and setup.
