The SGS 48930 is a solid micrograin carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC machining and manual milling operations. With a 0.1181 inch (3.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.2362 inch (6.00 mm) length of cut, this stub-length tool provides rigidity in tight setups where deflection must be minimized. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in demanding cutting applications. Four spiral flutes in a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration deliver efficient chip evacuation. The double-end design extends the usable life of the tool before replacement is needed. A straight-cylindrical shank with a 3.00 mm diameter seats securely in standard collets and end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for milling, slotting, and light profiling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. The Series 14M is engineered for compatibility with material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and similar materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, making it practical for interpolated pockets and stepped features. Its stub length makes it the preferred choice when overhanging length must be kept short to control vibration.
Rated for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S — covering hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, steel, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Part of the SGS Series 14M end mill family.
Installation and use of this end mill should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect runout before cutting and confirm spindle speed and feed rate match the material and diameter before engaging the workpiece. Never exceed the rated cutting parameters for the tool diameter or coating type.
