The SGS 48539 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC machining and manual milling operations. It features a 0.6299 inch (16 mm) cutting diameter with a matching 0.6299 inch straight-cylindrical shank, a 1.2598 inch (32 mm) length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle. The four-flute geometry is ground from micrograin carbide stock and finished with a TiCN coating to extend tool life in abrasive and hard materials. This is a centercutting, right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration in SGS Series 1M. It is installed and changed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel.

The 48539 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials across multiple material groups including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and steel.
