The SGS 46849 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the ZPMC series platform, it features a 1.5 mm cutting diameter, a 4.5 mm length of cut, and a 0.1 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-load operations. With four flutes, a variable helix geometry, and a variable index design, the tool balances chip evacuation efficiency with surface finish quality. It mounts on a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank and accepts standard end mill toolholders. The TX coating enhances wear resistance and thermal stability during extended cutting cycles. Single-end configuration keeps the tool compact and suited for tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling operations targeting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It covers roughing and finishing operations in a single tool, making it practical for shops running high-mix, low-volume programs where tool changes add cycle time. The standard-length flute and straight shank make it a direct fit for collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders commonly used in production and job-shop environments.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as micrograin carbide tools are sensitive to toolholder concentricity errors. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping mechanism used.
