The SGS 46366 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. Built on the Z1M series platform, it features a 0.4724 inch diameter, a 1.0236 inch length of cut, and a 12.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting environments. A variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonics and chatter during the cut, making this end mill well suited for aggressive material removal in difficult-to-machine alloys. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a micrograin carbide substrate deliver consistent edge strength across the cutting zone.
This end mill is engineered for milling operations on workpiece materials classified under SGS material codes H, K, M, P, and S, which correspond broadly to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and rigid knee mills where consistent tolerances and surface finish are required. The regular length configuration and straight shank make it compatible with standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders. It is not centercutting, so plunge operations are not recommended without a pilot hole or ramping strategy.
Designed for use with workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as defined by the SGS Z1M series classification. Fits standard straight-bore end mill holders and ER collet systems accepting a 12.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and powered down before loading or unloading the tool. Verify the shank is fully seated and clamping torque meets the tool holder specification for the collet or holder in use. Because this end mill is not centercutting, use ramping, helical interpolation, or a pre-drilled hole when entering a pocket rather than plunging directly.
