The SGS 46362 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Featuring a 0.315-inch (8.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.748-inch length of cut, this four-flute tool carries an AlTiN finish that improves heat resistance and extends tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration during machining, contributing to improved surface finish and reduced chatter. Micrograin carbide construction gives the tool the edge retention needed for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. A straight-cylindrical shank provides secure, accurate seating in standard collet and end mill holders.
The 46362 is suited for milling a range of workpiece material categories including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys, corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S. Right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes makes this a standard rotation tool compatible with conventional vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The regular-length configuration and 63.00 mm overall length make it practical for face milling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations at typical spindle reach. This tool is intended for use by machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank to the recommended engagement depth in a matched collet or shrink-fit holder to maintain runout within acceptable limits. Because this tool is non-centercutting, do not use it for direct axial plunge operations; program a ramping or helical entry instead.
