The SGS 46347 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for finishing operations in demanding machining environments. It features a 0.5512-inch (14 mm) cutting diameter, a 1.024-inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree variable helix angle. The variable helix and variable index geometry help reduce chatter and improve surface finish at higher feed rates. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. This tool is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute design with a micrograin carbide substrate, making it well suited for precision finishing passes in production and job shop environments.

The SGS 46347 is part of the Series Z1MB and is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece material categories, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. It is used in CNC machining centers for contour milling, 3D profiling, and finishing of complex geometries. The 14 mm shank diameter and 83 mm overall length fit standard ER and side-lock toolholders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers. No extended reach and no coolant-through capability - this tool is intended for standard external coolant or air-blast cooling setups.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the 14 mm shank fully and evenly in a clean, undamaged toolholder to maintain runout within the specified shank diameter tolerance of 0.000 to 0.011 mm. Verify tool reach and clearance against the programmed toolpath before initiating the finishing cycle.
