The SGS 44716 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 0.2362 inch (6.00 mm) mill diameter with a 0.5118 inch (13.00 mm) length of cut and a 72.00 mm overall length. The single-end, centercutting design supports plunge entry, and the 38-degree spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation at higher feed rates. A TiB2 (titanium diboride) finish reduces friction and extends tool life in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. Micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for tight-tolerance work. This tool is sold individually and suited for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
The SGS 44716 belongs to the Series 43M and is intended for milling non-ferrous metals in regular-length cutting applications. Its straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders with a 6.00 mm bore. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional and climb milling operations on most CNC and manual platforms. With a length-of-cut range of 0.5000 to 0.6000 inches, it handles slot milling, peripheral milling, and light profiling passes where a small-diameter tool is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with 6.00 mm collet chucks or end mill holders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N), including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended gauge line depth before tightening. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut being used.
