The SGS 44705 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Part of the SGS Series 43M, it features a 0.3937 inch (10 mm) cutting diameter with a matching 0.3937 inch straight-cylindrical shank and a 0.8661 inch length of cut. The three-flute geometry paired with a 38-degree spiral helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin carbide in a bright, uncoated finish, this end mill is centercutting and runs right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC mills and manual milling machines.
This end mill is primarily intended for machining non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials where free-cutting action and surface finish quality are priorities. The regular-length profile suits standard depth-of-cut requirements without extended reach. The bright, uncoated finish performs well in non-ferrous applications where coating buildup on soft materials can be a concern. The single-end configuration means the tool is replaced when the cutting edge is worn rather than indexed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 0.3937 inch straight-cylindrical shank, within the SGS Series 43M product line targeting non-ferrous metal applications.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, torquing to the equipment manufacturer's specified value. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
