The SGS 44505 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. This single-end, centercutting tool features a 0.1181-inch (3.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.315-inch (8.00 mm) length of cut, making it well suited for fine detail work, slotting, and profiling in tight geometries. With 2 flutes and a 45-degree helix angle, it provides efficient chip evacuation and a clean cutting action. The spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction are standard configurations for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
The SGS 44505 is rated for primary use on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its 6.00 mm Weldon flat shank provides positive drive engagement in compatible end mill holders, reducing slippage under load. With an overall length of 52.00 mm (approximately 2.047 inches) and a regular length classification, it fits standard tool holders used in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. This end mill is uncoated and intended for applications where coating is not required or where the workpiece material performs best against bare carbide.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders with a 6.00 mm bore and Weldon flat drive, as commonly found on CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metal (material code N).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerances. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in the tool holder set screw to the holder manufacturer specified torque. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run to avoid premature tool wear or dimensional error.
