Product Description

The SGS 43491 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 33MC standards, it features a 16 mm cutting diameter, a 38 mm length of cut, and a 2.50 mm (0.0984 inch) corner radius. The AlTiN coating under the proprietary Ti-NAMITE-A designation provides heat and wear resistance suited for aggressive cutting cycles. Three helical flutes with a variable index and variable helix geometry reduce harmonic vibration and chatter during roughing passes. The single-end configuration and straight-cylindrical shank seat directly into standard end mill holders.

This end mill is configured for roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. The coarse pitch and right-hand flute direction make it appropriate for high metal-removal-rate roughing in both horizontal and vertical machining centers. It is a non-centercutting, single-end tool, so plunge entry is not recommended without a pre-drilled starting hole. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops, tool rooms, and job shops running ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces are the primary users.

Installation Notes

Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, particularly for variable-helix tools where balance is geometry-dependent.
