The SGS 43471 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 4 mm mill diameter, a 12 mm length of cut, and a 0.50 mm (0.0197 inches) corner radius that reduces edge chipping and stress concentration at the tool tip. The single-end tool carries three helical flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry, which reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Overall length is 57 mm with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
The 43471 is classified as a roughing end mill in the SGS Series 33MC line. It is engineered for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction on CNC machining centers and manual mills using standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It also carries a secondary rating for hard materials. The coarse pitch and variable helix geometry make it particularly suited to heavy material removal passes where vibration control and heat management are critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders on CNC machining centers. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by SGS Series 33MC application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the 6 mm shank in a properly sized end mill holder or collet chuck torqued to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout after installation before beginning a cut, as excessive runout on small-diameter carbide tools can cause immediate breakage.
