The SGS 42706 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. Part of the SGS Series 43MS long-reach lineup, this single-end tool features a 0.2362 inch (6 mm) cutting diameter, a 0.3937 inch (10 mm) length of cut, and a 3-flute spiral geometry with a 38-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide substrate and titanium diboride (TiB2) coating work together to reduce built-up edge and extend tool life in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is a centercutting design, allowing direct plunge entry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations on non-ferrous metals in both vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The long-series body and extended reach make it a practical choice where standard-length tools cannot clear workholding fixtures or deep cavity walls. The straight-cylindrical shank with an h6 shank diameter tolerance fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders without modification. Right-hand cut, right-hand flute direction, and a fixed 38-degree helix are consistent across the Series 43MS family.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills using ER or straight-bore collet systems accepting a 0.2362 inch (6 mm) shank. Intended primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (Material Code: N). Part of the SGS Series 43MS.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle at a complete stop and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized collet chuck or end mill holder, torquing the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Consult the machine tool and workholding manufacturer guidelines for appropriate feed and speed parameters for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
