The SGS 42614 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding production environments. Built to Series 55ML long-length specifications, it features a 0.3937 inch (10 mm) cutting diameter, a 1.4961 inch (38 mm) length of cut, and five flutes with a 45-degree helix angle. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and exotic alloy applications. This end mill is centercutting and runs right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing settings.
The SGS 42614 is suited for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and superalloys. The workpiece material codes assigned to this tool are H, K, M, P, and S, covering a broad range of ferrous and high-temperature alloy families. The long length of cut makes it well-suited for deep pocket milling, slotting, and profiling where a standard-length end mill cannot reach. It is a single-end tool with a straight cylindrical shank, compatible with standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders.
Designed for use in standard straight-bore end mill holders, collet chucks (ER and similar), and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 0.3937 inch (10 mm) straight cylindrical shank. Intended for CNC machining centers and manual mills capable of running carbide tooling. Rated for workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation of this end mill should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the shank to maintain runout tolerance. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when setting tool offsets and clamping torque.
