The SGS 41665 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC and manual milling operations. With a 0.4724-inch (12 mm) cutting diameter and a 0.9843-inch (25 mm) length of cut, it handles a broad range of profiling, slotting, and contouring tasks. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle and features a variable index design that reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance across demanding workpiece materials.
The SGS 41665 is suited for machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. It is rated for use across multiple workpiece material codes including hardened materials, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steels, and high-temperature alloys. The 0.4724-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER and end mill holders sized for 12 mm or 0.4724-inch bores. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well-suited for applications where coating buildup or reaction with the workpiece is a concern. Regular-length geometry keeps the tool rigid for typical depth-of-cut requirements without excessive overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit end mill for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines that accept a 0.4724-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders sized for 12 mm bores.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth per the holder manufacturer's guidelines - do not rely on the flute portion for clamping. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
