The SGS 40039 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in professional machining applications. It features a 16 mm cutting diameter, a 32 mm length of cut, and a 2 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-load operations. The four-flute, single-end configuration with a right-hand helical flute geometry supports both roughing and finishing passes. An AlTiN coating (SGS Ti-NAMITE-A designation) provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, making this tool well suited for dry or near-dry cutting environments. Overall length is 3-1/2 inches (89 mm) and the straight-cylindrical shank diameter is 16 mm.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where a secure end mill holder is used. It targets steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with rated capability in hard materials as a secondary application. The medium helix style and normal pitch are appropriate for general-purpose production environments as well as precision finishing work. It is a single-end, centercutting-capable profile suited for plunge entry and slot milling where corner geometry integrity is critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 16 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Belongs to SGS Series 01C corner radius end mill product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting or removing the end mill. Torque the tool holder to the machine or tooling manufacturer specifications using appropriate collet wrenches or hydraulic holder procedures. Verify runout with a dial indicator after setup before beginning a cutting operation.
