The SGS 40015 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features an 8 mm cutting diameter, a 20 mm length of cut, and a 0.5 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. The tool carries an AlTiN coating — marketed under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A — which improves heat resistance and extends tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. With 4 flutes, a right-hand spiral flute geometry, medium helix, and single-end centercutting design, this end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing passes. Machinists and CNC operators running steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium will find this tool appropriate for production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 40015 is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard end mill toolholders accepting an 8 mm straight cylindrical shank. The tool is rated for primary use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium, with secondary capability in hard materials. Its normal pitch, standard length type, and micrograin carbide grade make it a general-purpose option across a wide range of workpiece materials encountered in production machining, tool and die, and aerospace component work.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting an 8 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per SGS Series 1MCR application ratings.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool change procedure followed per machine manufacturer guidelines before mounting or removing the end mill. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or coolant deposits before seating the tool to the correct gage length. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 — verify toolholder runout and clamping torque specifications per the toolholder manufacturer before operation.
