The SGS 40012 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 01C platform with a Ti-NAMITE-A AlTiN coating, this tool runs four helical flutes with a right-hand cutting direction and a medium helix angle of 30 degrees. The 1 mm corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and wear resistance required when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Variable index geometry helps break up harmonics and suppress chatter at higher feed rates.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers running ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials, including hard material secondary applications. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard end mill holders. With a long length-of-cut classification and an overall length of 50 mm (1-31/32 inches), it handles moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and contouring passes without requiring extended-reach tooling. It is appropriate for job shops, aerospace, and general precision machining environments where coating durability and edge consistency are critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders; suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the end mill holder and tighten to the holder manufacturer's specified procedure. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can compromise corner radius tolerance.
