The SGS 40011 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal and finishing in demanding machining environments. It features a 6 mm cutting diameter, a 19 mm length of cut, and a 0.75 mm corner radius that reduces stress concentrations and extends tool life on workpiece edges. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a medium helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting at higher feed rates. An AlTiN coating, marketed under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A, provides oxidation resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in production and job-shop settings.
The SGS 40011 is suited for roughing and finishing operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its single-end, straight-cylindrical shank at 6 mm diameter is compatible with standard end mill toolholders. The long-length flute configuration extends reach for deeper axial cuts without requiring extended-reach tooling. Variable index geometry helps reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, making this end mill effective in both light-finishing and heavy stock removal passes.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Verify toolholder runout and clamping torque according to toolholder manufacturer specifications before engaging a cut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to impact or improper side-loading during setup. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity class.
