The SGS 40007 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 01C standards with a micrograin carbide substrate, it features a 5 mm diameter, a 1 mm corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a variable index geometry. The AlTiN coating — designated Ti-NAMITE-A by SGS — provides high heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and difficult materials. At 50 mm overall length with a 16 mm length of cut and a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this tool is sized for standard end mill toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The long flute length and normal pitch make it effective for slotting, profiling, and contouring where a radius corner is required to reduce stress concentrations at part edges. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool intended for use with standard end mill toolholders.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per SGS material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible end mill toolholder torqued per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout at the shank before cutting — excessive runout accelerates wear on a carbide tool. Do not use this tool beyond its rated length of cut, as carbide is brittle and deflection beyond the flute zone can cause fracture.
