The SGS 39745 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 23/64 inch (0.3594 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with an overall length of 2.5 inches. The three-flute geometry and 30-degree right-hand helix provide efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in demanding applications. Micrograin carbide construction contributes to edge sharpness and wear resistance. This tool is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge as well as cut laterally.
The SGS 39745 is suited for use on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual mills where tight tolerances and clean finishes are required. It is rated for use on a broad spectrum of materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, titanium, and steel (ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S). Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in job shop, tool-and-die, and production environments. The regular-length designation makes it a standard-reach choice for most common setups without extended-reach concerns.
Compatible with ISO workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, titanium, and carbon and alloy steels. Fits any standard 3/8 inch collet or end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting the shank. Confirm the collet or holder is properly torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification before running. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and cut depth before engaging the cut.
