The SGS 39719 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications. It features a 0.1563 inch (5/32 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length with a 0.1875 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The three-flute geometry and 30-degree spiral helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting at elevated feed rates. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in demanding cuts. This end mill is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry, and is manufactured from micrograin carbide for consistent edge retention.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills where small-diameter, high-precision profiling, slotting, and contouring work is required. It is built to the SGS Series 5 regular-length specification. The workpiece material compatibility codes indicate suitability across a broad range of material categories including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, and heat-resistant alloys, making it a versatile option for job shops and production environments handling varied stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for machining centers and milling machines accepting a 0.1875 inch straight-cylindrical shank collet or end mill holder. Compatible workpiece material categories include cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), steel (P), stainless steel (M), heat-resistant alloys (S), and hardened materials (H) per the supplier material code designations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening to prevent runout and tool pullout during cutting. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, de-energized state before changing tooling. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator after installation, as small-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to even minor misalignment.
