The SGS 39705 is a square end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and consistent cutting performance. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral configuration runs at a 30-degree helix angle, balancing chip evacuation with cutting stability. At 0.0469 inches in diameter with a 0.1094-inch length of cut and 1.5-inch overall length, this tool targets tight-tolerance work where a compact, rigid end mill is required. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, and profiles in a broad spectrum of materials. The primary workpiece material codes cover cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant superalloys, and non-metallic materials. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.125 inches diameter fits standard collets and tool holders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for close-clearance work and small-feature machining where reach is limited.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore collets and end mill holders accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter, as used on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Install and remove end mills only when the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in an e-stop state. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or tool holder and verify runout before cutting. Use appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material per the tool manufacturer or machining data reference. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, especially given the small diameter of this tool.
