The SGS 39639 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in demanding cutting applications. The 0.5 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 0.625 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle to promote efficient chip evacuation. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry make it compatible with standard milling setups. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole. This tool is installed and operated by machining professionals and CNC operators.
The SGS 39639 is suited for milling operations across multiple workpiece material categories, including ferrous alloys, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, structural steels, and high-temperature alloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub length classification and straight-cylindrical shank make it a practical choice for setups requiring close-tolerance toolholding in compact work envelopes. The double-end configuration provides a second usable cutting end, extending overall tool value in production environments.
Designed for use in standard CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining workpiece materials corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per the manufacturer specification.
Installation should be performed by qualified machining personnel familiar with milling toolholding standards. Secure the shank fully within an appropriate collet or end mill holder before operation and verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece. Always follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, particularly when using the second cutting end on a double-end tool.
