The SGS 39629 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built to Series 14 specifications, it features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, a 0.5-inch length of cut, and a 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank with a 2.5-inch overall length. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and edge retention suited for high-speed cutting operations. A titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating reduces friction and improves wear resistance. The 4-flute, spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
The SGS 39629 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as high-temperature alloys and cast materials, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub-length geometry makes it appropriate for applications requiring rigidity and reduced deflection in tight setups. This end mill is typically installed by machinists and CNC operators in production shops, tool rooms, and job shops running vertical or horizontal machining centers and manual mills.
Designed as a Series 14 OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Suitable for workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Use a calibrated torque-rated toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before starting a cut. Consult the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety procedures when setting feeds, speeds, and depth of cut for the target workpiece material.
