The SGS 39573 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.875 inch mill diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length, with a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.875 inch diameter. The 2-flute, spiral-flute geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, promoting efficient chip evacuation. A TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding cuts. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide stock, this Series 3 end mill holds tight diameter tolerances and is centercutting, supporting both plunge and profile operations.
This end mill is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron and hardened materials (H), non-ferrous metals (K), stainless steels (M), non-metals and composites (N), steels (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). It fits standard CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills wherever a 0.875 inch shank collet or end mill holder is used. Regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use with standard 0.875 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Compatible workpiece material codes per supplier data: H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before loading or unloading the tool. Verify the shank is fully seated in the toolholder and torqued to the holder manufacturer specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm TiCN coating integrity has not been compromised by improper storage or contact with other tooling.
