The SGS 39523 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual milling operations. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The micrograin carbide substrate paired with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) finish delivers hardness and wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. Two spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup during cutting. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard on this Series 3 tool. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling ferrous and non-ferrous materials are the primary users of this end mill.
The SGS 39523 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a variety of materials including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and composites, consistent with material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling, making it versatile for multi-operation setups in job shop and production environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and end mill holders for ER and similar tooling systems.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement end mill compatible with ER collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills configured for small-diameter tooling.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Ensure the collet or holder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank; contamination at the taper interface affects runout and tool life. Torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not over-tighten. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before beginning a cut.
