The SGS 39371 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in demanding shop environments. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.75 inch mill diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Centercutting capability allows for direct plunge entry. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual milling applications.
The SGS 39371 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cast materials, high-temp alloys, and plastics, as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular length classification and straight-cylindrical shank make it a standard fit for conventional milling setups. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where a sharp square shoulder finish is required. The single-end design is appropriate for general-purpose production work where repeatability and edge consistency matter.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the SGS Series 3 line, compatible with standard 0.75 inch collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and runout verification. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before and after each use and do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the material being machined.
