The SGS 39177 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.125-inch (1/8-inch) cutting diameter with a 0.375-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design runs at a 30-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating improves surface hardness and extends tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. Micrograin carbide construction delivers consistent edge integrity under demanding cutting conditions. This tool is suitable for machinists and toolroom professionals working with close-tolerance slots, pockets, and profiles.
The SGS 39177 is applicable across a broad range of material groups including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, structural steels, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its variable index design reduces chatter and harmonic vibration during cut, making it well suited for finish milling passes in tight-tolerance work. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collet chucks and milling tool holders with a 0.125-inch (1/8-inch) bore. Regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for benchtop CNC mills, vertical machining centers, and manual knee mills where clearance is not a limiting factor.
Designed for use with standard 1/8-inch bore collet chucks and milling tool holders. Suitable for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, structural steels, and high-temperature alloys (material codes H, K, M, N, P, S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tooling setup procedures for the specific machine tool in use. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Verify collet bore size matches the 0.125-inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the full recommended grip length before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use.
