The SGS 39165 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in demanding production and job-shop environments. The cutter measures 9/16 inches in diameter with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, a matching 9/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank, and a 3-1/2 inch overall length. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in a variety of workpiece materials. The four-flute, spiral geometry combined with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish in both roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and similar materials as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is standard for vertical machining centers and CNC knee mills. The variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cut, making it appropriate for both roughing and finishing operations at regular overhang lengths.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in SGS Series 1, suitable for use in standard straight-shank tool holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic chucks accepting a 9/16 inch shank diameter across vertical machining centers and CNC milling platforms.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change mode is engaged before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Verify that the collet or chuck bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the proper engagement depth. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for runout tolerance and torque specifications when tightening the tool holder.
