The SGS 39153 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 27/64 inch (0.4219 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 2-3/4 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance. The micrograin carbide substrate and variable index flute spacing help reduce chatter during aggressive cuts. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 39153 is suited for milling operations on a broad range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and steel. Its centercutting capability allows for plunge entry as well as conventional side milling and slotting. The straight cylindrical shank accommodates standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Regular length classification makes it a practical choice for general-purpose milling where extended reach is not required.
Compatible with primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and general steel. Fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Before mounting, power down and lock out the spindle per machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a new operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
