The SGS 39135 is a 4-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The overall length is 2-1/2 inches. A TiN (titanium nitride) finish enhances surface hardness and lubricity at the cutting edge. The micrograin carbide substrate supports rigidity and wear resistance in demanding cuts. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral fluting are standard on this Series 1 tool.
This end mill suits general-purpose slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on a broad range of workpiece materials. The primary material codes listed by SGS include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys (codes H, K, M, N, P, S). The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Variable index spacing reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts.
Designed as a Series 1 regular-length square end mill compatible with 5/16 inch straight-shank tool holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual vertical mills. Suitable for workpiece materials corresponding to SGS primary material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-and-die technicians using an appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/16 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Confirm tool runout with a dial indicator after seating to verify proper holder engagement. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer feeds-and-speeds guidelines for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
