The SGS 39073 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in professional machining environments. With a 0.875-inch cutting diameter, 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, this tool fits standard 7/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. The four-flute, spiral-flute geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle with a variable index configuration for reduced chatter and improved surface finish. A TiCN coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life across demanding cutting operations. Micrograin carbide construction supports both roughing and finishing passes without tool deflection.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments. It is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, titanium, and high-temperature alloys. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry, giving machinists flexibility in pocket milling and slot cutting applications. Single-end configuration makes this a direct consumable replacement in standard tooling programs.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, titanium alloys, and high-temperature materials. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a standard collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the 0.875-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when setting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material.
