The SGS 39023 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. A TiCN coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life across a range of workpiece materials. Micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention under demanding cutting conditions. This is a single-end, centercutting tool with a straight cylindrical shank.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and peripheral milling on a variety of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, heat-resistant alloys, and titanium, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular-length geometry makes it appropriate for standard reach applications in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where a compact, rigid tool is preferred over extended-reach configurations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-installation tool for standard 3/16 inch collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and the tool path program is verified before seating the end mill in the toolholder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specifications to prevent runout. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and should not be dropped or impacted.
