The SGS 39008 is a 4-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.0625 inch (1/16 inch) mill diameter and a 0.1875 inch (3/16 inch) length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work, contouring, and profiling in tight geometries. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and hard material conditions. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent performance at small diameters. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC machining centers are the primary users of this tool.
This ball end mill is suited for milling operations on a range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys, consistent with ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its single-end configuration and right-hand cutting and flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC and manual milling setups. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation, which is especially important at small diameters where chip packing can cause tool breakage. The variable index geometry helps reduce vibration and chatter during finishing passes.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Designed for use in standard CNC milling setups accepting a 0.125 inch shank diameter collet or toolholder. Part of the SGS Series 1B end mill family.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC tooling setup. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the 0.125 inch shank securely in a precision collet or toolholder to the recommended minimum engagement depth to prevent pullout. At 0.0625 inch diameter, this tool is highly susceptible to breakage from excessive runout, so verify collet and spindle runout before beginning a cut.
