The SGS 39005 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) mill diameter with a 7/64 inch (0.1094 inch) length of cut and a 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. The micrograin carbide substrate supports sharp edge retention at small diameters. This tool is suited for machinists and tooling specialists working on CNC mills or manual knee mills requiring tight-tolerance slot, profile, or pocket cuts at small scales.
This end mill is applied in precision machining environments where small-diameter tooling is required. Its 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The variable index geometry helps suppress chatter during interrupted or contour cuts. Compatible workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability across cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and similar materials. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and toolholders commonly found in CNC machining centers and manual milling setups used in job shop and production environments.
Suitable for use with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, and superalloys. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard ER collets and precision toolholders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked, de-energized state. Verify collet size matches the 1/8 inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before commencing a cut. At this diameter, excessive feed rates or improper collet seating can cause tool deflection or breakage. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate selection based on workpiece material.
